[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Hinata Hyuuga (Eastern: Hyūga Hinata)
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Canon: Naruto
Timeline: Chapter 573
Character History:
Here is a link from the Naruto wikia that covers her canon appearances. http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Hinata#Part_I The history involved goes all the way down through the Fourth Shinobi War arc, which is the most recent and where I'm taking her from.
Character Personality:
At her core, Hinata is a shy, kind, and soft-spoken young woman. These are the first traits anyone would notice about her. For a while in her life, she believed these to be traits that hindered her as her family believed these to be traits unfit for a ninja and their heiress. She endured many years hearing such unkind words about how she acted and how soft-hearted she was, yet she never lost any of those traits.
Though, for a while, she did almost go down a dark path and seek power and self-change in unsavory ways. What they were was never elaborated on, even though she does admit to it during her confession to Naruto. Said person is also the one who kept her from going down those dark paths though he never knew it. Mainly because she was--and still is--a shy person who doesn't have much confidence in herself, especially when she was younger when she first saw Naruto. He was also someone who was hated, who others looked down upon, and was also seen as a failure. Yet he never ran away from his problems and cried like she did; instead he tried harder and worked even harder to prove them wrong.
It was admiration at first sight for him. Though she wasn't as loud or as bold as him, she still did her best to emulate him. He embodied "potential" and "self-confidence" to her, qualities she wanted for herself. So she trained every day, at first by herself, then with her team, and eventually her father and cousin. Often even training after those training sessions because she isn't one to be dissuaded from her goals. Her main goal is, at its core, to be worthy. As a ninja and as an heiress. And also to one day be able to walk side-by-side with Naruto as an equal. And if there's another thing Hinata has always shown as being, it's stubborn. She'll keep working at those goals until she's achieved them. She spent years believing herself a failure, but as of the Fourth Shinobi War, she doesn't anymore. Even her father acknowledges her as an equal to Neji, her cousin and (at times) her protector.
As proof of this and of how much she's grown, she's grown strong enough to save both Neji and Naruto, the former twice and the latter once. And she did so using what many had considered weakness: kindness. Her empathetic nature allowed her to see Neji's suffering and she finally spoke up about it and stood up to him, finally facing a confrontational situation, even though she knew it would upset him enough to attack her even more furiously. Then she saved him again, watching his back during the war, and didn't even hesitate to jump to his aid as the younger her may have done. While she is still prone to criticism enough that it can stall her from a course of action, as Kou's warning that she would be a burden trying to protect Naruto, it doesn't stop her from doing it anymore. As she did still jump to Naruto's aid and finally overcome her hugest hurdle in confessing to him--herself and her own doubt.
Because of her lack of confidence in herself, she stammers over her words, especially if it's a new person or situation or she's deeply embarrassed, and she even keeps her true thoughts to herself. Inside she may be shouting for joy, yet all she will do is smile politely. She may hate someone, but she will never say it. This also leaves her sometimes unable to tell others no, and she is easily walked over or taken advantage of. Not only because of a childhood spent trying so hard to appease others, but also from growing up too quickly as a ninja--she's still naive to many normal social situations. Another reason for her stammering over her words; she simply doesn't know how to do small-talk that involves daily, normal civilian things. It's never really been part of her world.
Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
Kekkai Genkai→ Byakugan (Lit. White Eye)
The byakugan allows its user to "see through everything" and easily understand the principles behind chakra circulation and use. It can see straight through immediate objects, anything situated remotely ahead/behind/sideways, and through a body to its "acupuncture network" through which chakra circulates, along with the apertures that are used to release chakra from the body: the "chakra openings". With this sight, one can collapse the chakra network of an opponent and render them incapable of using any chakra. The byakugan also grants its user near three-hundred-and-sixty degree vision—it has a small blind spot on the back of the user's neck just above the third thoracic vertebra. Hinata has been shown to have developed her byakugan to the point of being able to see around ten (10) km (around 6 miles) in one direction.
Martial Arts→ Jyūkenhō (Lit. Gentle Fist Style)
Jyūkenhō is an internal, or gentle, martial art as opposed to an external, or hard, martial art style. The difference being that the Hard Style is one that focuses on directly damaging an opponent: breaking bones, causing external injuries; while a Gentle or Soft Style focuses on upsetting an opponent's center of balance, tossing them to the ground, causing internal injuries.
In the case of Jyūkenhō when coupled with the Byakugan, it allows for a practicioner to completely shut down their opponent's chakra network and even kill them with the barest of touches.
→Jūho Sōshiken (Lit. Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists)
This is apparently a unique Jyūkenhō attack Hinata has developed. Using chakra she has released through the palms, Hinata molds it into a large lion-shaped shroud around each hand and through spherical attacks thrusts it toward an opponent. Its damage is never seen in the manga, but the anime allows one to presume it can temporarily stun an opponent when hit.
→Hakke Kūhekishō (Lit. Eight Trigrams Vacuum Wall Palm)
This is a joint attack where two Byakugan users standing side-by-side both attack using Hakke Kūshō (Lit. Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm) to create a forceful wave of chakra capable of sending multiple opponents flying back.
Chakra→ in the world of Naruto, is what is necessary to use any techniques other than taijutsu. Through kneading the physical and mental energy contained in the body's 130,000,000,000,000 cells (or so) into chakra, and then converting it into jutsu through the use of hand seals. Only when done correctly can one use jutsu, or even to enhance physical abilities.
Every ninja, in Konoha at least, has the same set of basic skills granted through chakra use:
Adhesion/Repelling→ Through constant concentration and coating of chakra along the soles of the feet (or palms of the hand, or through any part of the body), a ninja can "stick" themselves to a solid surface like a tree, wall, or ceiling. Alternatively by expelling chakra through any part of the body, they can create enough force to stand on top of non-solid surfaces, such as bodies of water. This allows Hinata to tree-, wall-, ceiling-, and water-walk.
Henge no Jutsu/Transformation Technique→ A basic jutsu that allows the user to transform themselves or another into the appearance of another person, object or animal.
Bushin no Jutsu/Clone Technique→ A basic jutsu that creates an intangible copy of the user; the clones are usually illusions and will dissipate when touched, and the byakugan and sharingan can see through them.
Kawarimi no Jutsu/Body Replacement Technique→ A basic jutsu that allows the user to quickly replace their body with another object within reach the moment an attack hits.
Hinata is a trained tracker. She's a member of a team speficially designed for tracking. While she likely does rely heavily upon her Byakugan to perform her duties as a tracker or scout, she likely knows a few commonplace things about tracking normally. Such as how to read trails left behind, and how to anticipate where someone might be heading.
Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
Hinata will sometimes overthink herself into failure. An unfortunate side-effect to not only having low self-confidence, but also of trying to do her best. This shows best when she is in charge of something or has to rely solely on herself for encouragement, such as when she's trying to explain her thoughts to Naruto or extend a helping hand toward someone.
She's far from being the fastest or strongest person. Even most normal humans who don't have access to chakra are probably physically stronger or faster than her as her official databook stats imply.
As a close-range hand-to-hand fighter, she has little experience with weapons. She's never shown with kunai or shuriken or even the standard issue tanto all chuunin receive, even though weapon's training is shown to be part of academy study for all ninja. It's likely she knows nothing beyond this.
She is very self-sacrificing. This is mainly because she's empathetic to others and doesn't want to see them suffer, but she will take this caring too far and have little issue with being gravelly to fatally wounded in order to protect them. Be it from themselves (Neji) or from others (Naruto and Neji).
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
Her knowledge of Jyūkenhō. While she may not be able to do the damage she could with chakra, she can still upset another's center of balance or hit pressure points. Basically, she knows enough for self-defense.
Her tracking knowledge. Again, because she will not have chakra or the use of her Byakugan, she won't be the best at it, but doing basic tracking is still something she can do.
What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
She will lose her disadvantage in speed and strength. Since there isn't chakra or anything really resembling it, she is on more even footing in both areas with everyone. So long as they aren't using their Weapon or Soul Ability, that is.
She will gain a disadvantage when it comes to Weapons as she has very limited knowledge on them. Using them, being one, the relationship between the weilder and any type of weapon. It will be a huge adjustment for her, and require quite a bit of training and learning in order to perform as well as she can.
The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?
Hinata is a stubbornly dedicated person. Once she sets her mind to something, she does all she can to see it to the end. She's already in one war back home to protect Naruto and to keep Madara from taking over the world, so to find herself in a new world also in a war to keep from being taken over by something will have her wanting to fight and help out. She may not have asked to be involved, but she'll do her best to do whatever needs to be done to help out.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why is your character a Weapon and not a Meister?
While a member and former heiress of the Main Branch in her family, she isn't entirely cut out to be a Meister or a leader in any way. As mentioned above, she can overthink herself into failure nor does she have the confidence just yet to not lead herself and her weapon into trouble.
She's also someone far more used to protecting others. She's spent years working in a team, always under the guidance of someone else. She also follows the lead of others very well, as she doesn't seek to be the person leading an attack but protecting that person. Working with a Meister and being able to protect them as a Weapon is where she would be most comfortable and would grow the most as a character at.
What is your character’s Weapon Form? Why?
Her weapon form is a handwrap. Just a plain white handwrap, much like herself. She's always been a close ranger fighter who relies heavily on striking with her hands. Hands and keeping them safe are very important to her and her family--to be unable to use her hands or channel chakra through them would be like losing a part of herself. She's also a protective character, so being a handwrap would be her way of protecting the most important part (to her) of another's body.
What is your character’s Weapon Ability?
In Weapon Form, Hinata will be able to be be used as an actual weapon (like brass knuckles, except much softer) and hit an opponent, or block an attack.
As resonance grows, when she hits an opponent it will cause internal damage. At first, it will cause just soreness in muscles, maybe cause an opponent to double over in pain/have the wind knocked out of them. Eventually, one or two hits will be able to completely incapacitate an opponent by severly damaging their internal organs, much like Jyūkenhō does when used with chakra.
At a high level of resonance, she will be able to channel their Meister Ability throw her weapon form and unleash it in the area directly in front of her, just as she could do with chakra through her hands. How long it takes to do this and how large the area is depends on how high the resonance is, the Meister's level, and just what their ability is. It will also not likely work with some abilities (like Clairvoyance, Punny Soul, Soul Cloak, etc...)
